The Compassionate Friends
(TCF) is an organisation of bereaved parents and their families offering
understanding, support and encouragement to others after the death of a
child or children. We also offer support, advice and information to
other relatives, friends and professionals who are helping the family. TCF
has a helpline, runs local group meetings and one to one visiting. There
is a range of useful publications available online, TCF also runs
retreats and gatherings.
A local group was started
in 1993 by a Smallfield couple who themselves had received help from TCF
in the past. The death of a child is one of the most painful deaths to
bear and parents and families are often left feeling isolated in their
grief, perhaps only another bereaved parent may fully understand the
pain and anguish of your child's untimely death. Their willingness to
listen and their gentle encouragement may give you the strength you need
to carry on.
